The following is a "fanfiction-style" text. You are going to meet Sam and Alan . If you are not interested in reading the little scene I wrote, you can just read the white lines and you will learn about the synopsis. This is up to you. ;-)

You enter the comic shop, following Sam. You just met him on the boardwalk but immediately noticed that he’s a comic junkie, obviously; he knows a lot about Batman number 14… and he promised to talk to you about the Reign of Frogs comics.

 

“Hey, Alan,” Sam greets.

 

“Hey, man,” Alan replies. He stops what he’s doing to turn his face to you both. With a short move of his head, he silently asks Sam who you are. He glares suspiciously at you, But who isn’t suspicious in Santa Carla?

 

“Oh, hum… this is… hum, someone who wants to know about the comics.” Sam then turns say to you, “Sorry, I forgot your name.”

 

You mumble your name, and then get straight tobusiness. Alan's suspicious stares make you nervous. Pointing to the rack, you indicate your reason for coming to the store.

 

“The comics?”

 

“Yeah, you know, the Reign of Frogs!” Sam insists.

 

Alan adjusts his military beret and nods in agreement.

 

“Where’s Edgar?” Sam asks.

 

“He’s talking about the sequel, on the next page of this site. And you know how he is; no one can stop his never-ending babble when it comes to talking about our memorable fights.” He then turns to you, “But let’s check things first.”

 

“Oh, come on, dude,” sighs Sam.

 

“Walk in the sunlight?” Alan asks you.

 

“Yes.”

 

“Check! Favourite drink?”

 

“Soda.”

 

“Check! Show your fingernails.”

 

You look at Sam who nods with his mouth open.  

 

“Check!” Alan says.

 

“Alan, stop sniffing old newsprint, will ya?” Sam grouses.

 

“Okay.” Alan doesn't even give you the time to sit down before he starts his speech.

 

“There are four ‘Reign of Frogs’ comics in total,” Alan says in a whisper, glancing around like a paranoid soldier. “They are the link between The Lost Boys and The Tribe. They mostly explain what happened between 1987 and 2007 and how Shane was made.”

 

“You can learn a lot reading them! For example, you learn that it is possible to stay a half vampire if you only feed on animals,” Sam interrupts.

 

“Hey, I'm telling the story!” Alan protests. But Sam ignores him; he’s too excited.

 

“The link between a Sire and his Childe fades with time, so a vampire can survive when his Sire is killed, did you know that?” Sam continues. “The Frogs' knowledge about vampires might be partially false!”

 

Alan seems offended by what Sam said. He grabs a horror comic and pushes it against your chest. You have no choice but to take it.

 

“Take this, there’s my number on the back; and pray you'll never need to call me.” Alan advises seriously before going back to his own business.

 

One last look at Sam makes you understand that the conversation is over.
